Now that you've met Janie and learned a little about her personality and design style, I think the perfect ending is to see the lovely home she designed in Woodstock, Georgia on my pilot show from last year.  Notice I said pilot, so remember it's not perfect.  Oh, I'm sure I'll regret this.  I guess what I'm saying is you're a savvy design audience and this show was originally geared toward those who hope to learn some design basics.  And you're so beyond that.  Janie's work, however, is simply delightful in this video.  If nothing else, just looking at the two homes she designed is totally worth the time.  So enjoy!

So let me set this up:  I visit Janie in the model home she designed and ask her common design questions.  Then we peek inside her client's mid century modern home and chat a little about how she created a neutral palette with some fun and edgy surprises.

Fall is on its way and down here on the coast we are starting to feel a little relief from those humid days of summer.  I'm ready for our cool evenings of sipping orange spiced tea on the porch all bundled in a blanket, while looking at our brilliant stars sprinkled in the midnight sky.

Okay, I'm stalling.  Sorry, I'm nervous!  Let me get to the point.  About a year ago, when we were still living in Atlanta, I dabbled with launching a little Internet show I named, Design Matters.  I only produced a few shows, but was fortunate enough to win two of these.  I give credit to my fabulously fun designers who helped make the shows interesting!

I was planning to produce many more shows, but we had a surprise move down here. [long story]

Basically the first few Design Matters featured friends of mine who were designers.  Having taken a break from TV, I thought it would be fun to ease back in just a little. 

So.....in light of our autumn days and lovely weather coming our way, I wanted to share one of my shows with you.  This particular one shows the front and back porch of friend and designer Christine Blight who lives in a lovely historic home in Woodstock, Georgia.  Toward the end of the show, Christine and I do a fun "how to" project that you may find interesting.  It's a low-cost way to add ambient lighting to your porch.  Great idea for an outdoor fall party. 

You can manually fast forward through the long commercial break in the middle.  Or any part of the show for that matter!
