I've jumped over here for today. 

WHY?
My home girl, Jill Gaupin, interviewed me on her blog, SoWal Scene.  God help her.

WHAT IS SOWAL SCENE?
"SoWol" is short for South Walton County, which is the county in our beach town.  SoWal Scene is written by Jill and is a masterful blog that tells you anything and everything about what's happening in our area.  Celeb spottings, restaurant reviews, news, gossip, you name it.  If you're ever planning to visit our beaches, or just want to see what's going on in our town, her blog is a must read.

Whenever you do visit her blog, just think to yourself, "one person writes this entire thing."  She's amazing.  I suspect Jill is one of those people who requires less than five hours of sleep a night.  Jealous. 

DID SOMEONE MENTION FINE CUISINE?
If you see a slant toward food on her site, it's with good reason.  Jill has her culinary degree from the nationally acclaimed L'Academie de Cuisine.  A former pastry chef in Washington D.C., she considers herself to be a professional foodie.  And I can personally vouch for her incredible cooking skills!

happiness + addictions...

Sometimes checking emails is just as fun as receiving a surprise package in your mailbox.

After another morning scramble with offspring, I smiled when I came home and checked my inbox.  Today I had two emails that lead me to happy places.  Just love surprises like these.  Especially when the common theme involves my guilty pleasures.

A holla' from from one of my favorite bloggers [and friend] who had such nice things to say about some simple advice I shared.  Of course it could be considered by some as dysfunctional advice.  But hey, that's me.  Thanks for your sweet words, friend.  Right back at 'cha!

And this blogger tagged me with this title.  Oh my.  In return I'm supposed to list five addictions.  That'll be easy. 

Disclaimer:  I'm going with completely superficial tangibles.

THE BIG FIVE 

    1.  I think it's safe to say JCrack.  Or, as normal people say, JCrew.  Here's their inspiration board for their spring collection.  Look at that gorgeous fabric in the lower left corner!  Which leads me to number two...

 

   

2.  Pretty fabric.  A few that have caught my eye lately.  But there are so so many more...

   

    3.  Peanut M+M's.  I keep hidden stashes in my kitchen.  Occasionally the offspring find them.

 

    4.  Lamps.  There are countless pretties out there.  There just isn't enough tabletop space.

   

    5.  My computer.  I have been known to secretly call it "the precious".  And I seriously worry when I see my sweet daughter playing "mommy" and setting up like this. [I try to tell myself it's no different than if I were a knitter and she were pretending to knit]

random facts...

What seems like ages ago, both this sassy southern blogger and this lovely new yorker  tagged me to list seven random facts about...moi.  Thank's for asking.  You know I cannot resist.

Here goes.

1.  White dazzles and inspires me.  It provokes a feeling of happiness inside.  Whether it's wearing several strands of pearls, relaxing in an airy room or just glancing at my collection of creamery, I am moved.

2.  I studied ballet en pointe for 15 years.  Ballet is one of my true loves.  Seeing it performed well is like watching the careful strokes of a beautiful picture being painted before your very eyes to each single note of music.  It is the ultimate beauty.

3.  I have rebel streak.  I've never been very good at conforming to what "everybody does". 

4.  It's impossible for me to touch corduroy.  The feel of it disturbs me.  Each fall and winter I always spot a pair of cool cords, and hope to build up the nerve to buy them.  I think to myself, "I can wear them without actually touching the corduroy part with my hands, right?"  But it hasn't happened yet.   

5.  I'm a night owl.  It's my favorite time of day.  Since I was a child, I've never functioned that well early in the morning.  Still don't.  I definitely need my eight hours of sleep at night, but the second the sun sets my energy increases.  It's when I feel my happiest and most creative.

6.  I love Elaine's character on Seinfeld.  I don't know if it's her perpetual neurosis or endless life dramas.  Watching her always made me think she would be a hilarious friend to have.

7.  I think I get "runners high" when I shop.  I'm probably not alone in this.  It doesn't have to be an expensive shopping experience, it can be something as simple as scoring a treasure at a flea market.  I guess I enjoy the process of discovering something beautiful and finding a use for it.
