Sorry for my absence. We took the two youngest offspring on a spontaneous trip to Atlanta last week. On our way there, we stopped in our all-time favorite Animal Safari for some fun and animal....bonding?
I'd like to share some pics. I'll warn you it's a lot. But I absolutely love animals. Actually all of us in our fam do. Someday husband and I hope to have a farm with lots and lots of creatures.
In case you don't know what Wild Animal Safari is, I can tell you it's about the funniest and most enjoyable activity you can do with your fam. It's also educational and well, completely wild. It totally blows away going to the zoo. You buy tickets and animal food, hop in a mini van spray-painted with zebra stripes and spend about an hour driving through 200 acres of beautiful shady land with rolling hills and hundreds of a variety of hungry animals. You can learn more about it here.
Look at the faces of our two as we began our journey. Notice they are hovered in the middle of the van at first? Stick around and you'll see why...
Here is the angle we got to see most of the time.
It's much like the angle you get to see every day with four hungry kids.
These white deer were mine and daughter's favorite. They were so gentle and very soft. And I loved their color.
And this is the face of a little girl who was terribly upset that she couldn't reach all of the baby deer to feed them.
I can't remember the last time I've laughed so hard. I think that's one of my favorite parts of going on this safari.
The ostrich. A hilarious looking animal. And a very tricky one to feed. Mainly because that beak hurts when it grabs the food pellet from your hand.
Here I am trying to figure out how to offer this guy his food without losing a finger. Yes, it really hurts when they bite. Trust me.
Eventually the offspring warmed up to the zebra.
I think what made me laugh the hardest was watching my husband try to negotiate personal space with each of the animals. Not an easy thing to do when they stick their whole head in your car.
This guy started walking toward us.
And he brought a friend along who was exactly same size. Thank goodness their antlers didn't fit inside the car door.
The animals follow your van.
No, I mean they literally f-o-l-l-o-w your van. Love it.
This journey was good for the soul. So good.
Beyond our field trip, the Atlanta jaunt was absolutely amazing. We spent so much quality time with our two small fries and I didn't get on my computer for five days. I have to say, that was refreshing and enjoyable. I felt so free! I think I'm going to ease off my computer a little more this summer, let a few things go, soak up quality time with my offspring and enjoy more simple goodness. After all, isn't that what life is all about?
