Husband and I did not get a "date night" this weekend, but it's okay. Looks here like my old iBook and new MacBook got some firewire action. [cue blushing of the computers]
In honor of cool laptops, I dedicate this post to my old Mac. A gift from my sweet husband, "little Mac" has hung in there with me since '04 when he was born. Never crashing, never complaining, never causing any trouble at all. Never wincing while I clumsily pecked away with only one hand on his keyboard while nursing a new baby. Then another. I can only hope that my "new little Mac" will be just as reliable and well-behaved.
When I handed off my old computer over to our eager nine-year-old this week, I had trouble letting go. Not unusual behavorior for a girl who, at times, has been known to refer to her computer as "the precious". But it's exciting to know that our oldest will get to learn some tricks on what feels like a new computer to him. He's so proud to own "little Mac".
Little Mac, sorry all those years I could not provide you a hip and chic office, or even a small work space.
Like this.
Or this.
Or even this.
Instead, little Mac, you diligently worked with me at my kitchen counter in between feeding offspring, helping with homework, making lunches, cooking dinners and cleaning the kitchen. Not to mention the times I dragged you through the airport, forgot to update your new software or spilled babyfood on you. Maybe the next Mac will not only have your endurance, but also score a nicely designed office. That is if I can incorporate an extra five hours into my days to actually plan and design a space. Here's hoping.
