[my girls]
It was one of those rare weekends. Everything just clicked. Fell right into place. The sun actually showed its face on Friday and Saturday, which brought so much happiness into life. It's been raining nonstop for what must be two weeks now. I need sun to be happy. So we all welcomed it with open arms and a big smile.
Nothing really big happened this weekend, it was all just simple goodness. But isn't that really the best kind? Good times with great friends, happy offspring, lots of laughs. Ahhhh, heaven.
I'll share a few shots.
Here's our Friday night: feed offspring, throw hair in a messy pony, change clothes and fly out the door to have dinner with friends. Then head to the beach for another friend's fab birthday bash.
Have you met a couple of my peeps? That's Stacy in the pink and Stephanie in the black. Stacy has a rockin' pizza and movie store [check out her store's tempting Easter goodies right here]. She's just about the coolest friend a girl could ask for and makes me laugh until I can't stand it. I'm sure you have a friend or two like that, they're irreplaceable. Our children are best buds. Stephanie [on the right], who's sweet and sassy, is another fashionista friend who's new store on the beach I'm dying for you to see. I'll show you very very soon, promise.
On Saturday the offspring played in the sunshine. Later that night husband and I snuck away to grab sushi at one of our favorite local dives. We usually don't do two date nights in one weekend, but splurged this time for whatever reason.
And speaking of loving the simple things....one of the b-e-s-t things to do after sushi is head straight to the Krispy Kreme to destroy your swimsuit figure and eat hot off the press donuts. We have an incredible local donut shop here, but I'm still a huge fan of Krispy Kreme. I get crazy when I see the donuts actually being made. It seals the deal.
Best use of six bucks. I could completely walk away from them if they just didn't melt in your mouth.
Couldn't catch my man.
Am I seriously sitting here blogging about donuts? Feel free to leave at this point. Sorry, this is where I have NO discipline and become a crazy sugar freak.
Ahem, moving on. As I mentioned, there was plenty of "offspring play" all weekend. Here we are with a few friends and their tots after church today. Look carefully in the lower left hand corner at our friend [one of the daddies] who fell over backwards taking ring-around-the-rosie a little too seriously. [Morgan, that's your man]
This shot below I took of all four of ours many many hours later after a full day of outside play plus dinner. They never stop. Sometimes I wonder if someone secretly feeds them race horse food.
We rounded them all up, gave them their baths and put them in their p.j.'s. Just before bed our youngest came down, sat on the stairs and played with a toy I used to have when I was very little. It's so old I guess you could call it an antique. But I prefer to call it vintage. Ha. It was sentimental to see him playing and laughing with the very toy I used to play with as a tot. Such a simple joy.
Yep, it was a good weekend. I share a little of it with you just to remind us all that it's the simple things that mean the most. With this economy and all of the things happening around us, it can be an easy thing to forget.
I'm grateful for those simple things. Aren't you?
[thanks iphone for taking all these pictures]
