A few weekends ago, among projectile vomiting offspring and college football games, husband and I found a way to decorate for Halloween. In my usual decorating optimism, I pictured a scene of happy and festive offspring sipping homemade hot apple cider while husband and I dashed all around our front porch, spreading Autumn cheer.
It wasn't quite that scene, but we got it done.
And this year, instead of copying something seen from Martha or Real Simple, I actually had an original idea. Watch out.
Happy ghosts greeting our future trick or treaters. [please excuse the dying mums, they got hit with cold weather the day before]
It was pretty easy. I bought three yards of white fabric and measured off one yard each, cutting off the yard for each ghost.
I stuffed each cut yard of fabric with pillow stuffing and finished with a string around the neck to hold the shape. Lucky for me, I had some great helpers.
I then took a magic marker and gave the ghosts their eyes and a "boo" of a mouth.
Husband hung the three ghosts from the ceiling rafters of our porch with fishing wire. Now that was a time consuming project. Placement is everything.
You can only imagine how happy this man was to spend his Saturday afternoon hanging little ghosts instead of watching his favorite college football team play. Just look a that grin.
But the end result was pretty cute.
Then there was the costume fitting with our cat, Pom Pom. He looks thrilled, doesn't he?
The rear shot is even better.
And this week we got into the Halloween spirit by making home made cupcakes for dessert followed by custom decorations from the offspring. They were so proud and requested that I show you their finished products.
