The highlight of my weekend was, you guessed it, hooking up with Eddie Ross and his partner, Jaithan. Life doesn’t get much better than this, my design loving divas. After lots of chats over the phone and what seemed to be countless emails, it was exciting for us to finally meet in person!
So what's a girl to do when she has these two handsome devils all to herself?
Shop!!! [the ultimate bonding experience, of course]
We ate a delightful lunch at Murphy’s in Virginia Highlands [which included plenty of gabbing and laughing] and headed over to Antiques and Beyond in hopes of finding a few treasures. I haven’t been to that store in a couple of months so it was great to see some of their new {old} things. Eddie scored a some seriously fab goodies [which you will soon see on his blog] and I found a gorgeous set of three decanters from the 1940’s.
Here he is giving me tips on how to clean them up.
Note to anyone who may have the chance to shop with Eddie: Book it and go! Not only is he the coolest and most fun person to shop with, but he’s basically a walking encyclopedia on all things antique. There was not one item I noticed or picked up that he did not know the history of or even its original use. It blew my mind. He doesn't miss any detail. He also helps keep you in check on the reality of pricing. Always look for the deal, and snag it when the price is fair. It was the first time I've ever had a blast while learning at the same time.
Before lunch, Eddie and Jaithan surprised me with a lovely antique surgeon's sterilizing container from Belgium and vintage linen napkins. The container has a fabulous surprise use that Eddie came up with. We're both going to show you very soon, so keep those eyes peeled. Can't wait for you to see!
The six beautiful napkins were perfectly pressed and soft as butter. Of course.
Here's a better shot of the decanters, just unwrapped them and love them even more than I thought. They're so Ralph Lauren Mayfair. Hmmm, I need to find a perfect place for them. Any ideas?
It's pretty amazing that the blogosphere can unite new friends. Can't wait for our next Eddie + Seleta adventure. Don't you all agree he needs to come down here to the beach and shop with us? I'm working on that. He has quite a few peeps who are ready to see him. We can show he and Jaithan a good time.
Oh and I'm still considering that glass box I talked about for Eddie, only now I'll need one for Jaithan too.
