and the winner is...

Amy!  A busy blogging mom with a husband and three adorable kids...and cute dog.  Her blog is one day at a time.  Her blog description is perfect, "shared stories of a sweet family."  I couldn't agree more.

It's funny, instead of using random.org or the offspring this time, I tried something different.  To come up with the number, I thought of the year I graduated.  It happened to be the number that Amy's comment was.  I figured that was just as random as anything else, right?  I was glad to find her.  She shares a lot of good thoughts that I needed to see.  So I guess she gave me a gift today too.  Thanks, Amy!

While snooping around her blog, I also couldn't help but notice Amy happens to be a major do-it-yourself-er.  Which was a perfect match for this Whitewall & Company giveaway.  She posted her before and after kitchen redo right here.  She and husband did everything on their own.  Impressive!

fab week

Is it Friday already?  It's been a fabulous but busy week.  It's always like this in the month of May.  Have you noticed the same for yourself?  I'm insanely behind on laundry, emails, organizing, phone calls, projects, blah blah blah.  And I'll admit that I feel guilty that I haven't come up with some brilliant post for today. 

But let's look at the good.  Because there's always plenty of it.

I'll share some of the things that have made this week extra special.  Today's post isn't very "designery" [just made up my own word] but is full of love and simple goodness.  I always say it's the simple things that make life enjoyable. 

Here goes.

1.  Welcomed a new kid on the block.  Literally.  My sister had her first baby!  He's one week old.  Came into the world weighing 8 lbs 12 ounces.  Big boy.  There they are, one happy new family! 



The offspring think he's pretty fab.

 





And so does his Aunt!  Now that my sister has an offspring of her own, I can spoil him rotten.  He and I have an agreement.

 

2.  Planted flowers that were already dying thanks to me with my precious daughter. 



The fun part was picking them out together.  She's my little partner in crime and I cherish every second we have together.



3.  Snuck away with husband to a nearby restaurant which offers the best gulf view in town.I had on yikes, no make-up a cream long dress from Anthro's clearance rack last year.  Wearing it on a date with my man made me happy.  When we asked an innocent bystander to take our picture, some drunk guy stood up and yelled over to me, "Congratulations to the bride!"  We both laughed.

 

4.  Watched our oldest slide into home base.  Caught it on my camera phone.  I'm proud of him.



5.  Spotted my husband demonstrating how to play with dolls?  Needed this pic for his birthday tribute.  Or blackmail someday. [hee hee]



6.  Enjoyed my Mother's Day flowers in my favorite MacBeth buckets.  Thanks sweet fam, they're so pretty.

I feel like I'm breaking 113 hearts when I announce this winner, I'm actually feeling guilty that there is only one winner.  Too much pressure [breath in, breath out].  This is when I wish I were Oprah and could send a dress to everyone.  That would be so much fun!

Below is a picture I took of it while I was in Stephanie's store.  Those are butterflies fluttering all around the dress.  And yes, that's a back shot of it. 

Can I just say I love long dresses?  They seem so fanciful and feminine but still have a little edge.  I think I'll be wearing more long dresses this summer.

i didn't forget

Please pardon my late announcement of our winner for this lovely JCrew cosmetic bag set from last week's Fab Friday.  But when your day begins at 5:00am and doesn't stop until after your child's baseball game at 9:00pm, there's not a lot of blogging time in between. 

Before I announce, I want you to see how cool these two bags are.  If you have a JCrew near you, you may want to check it out, I bet they still have a few on sale. 

Okay, so the winner....well at first I thought it would be cute to take a picture of the card our three year old selected from the pile of contestants.  Can it get more random than a three year old picking the winner?

But I had trouble getting my wiggle worm to sit still.  There's actually a card showing the winner in his hand.  It's just in fast motion. 

Then I started laughing.  Couldn't keep a decent smile on my face.  Mainly because of Pom Pom over in the right hand side of the picture.  Our four year old decided years ago that Pom Pom was not a cat, but rather a babydoll who needed to ride in strollers and sleep in baby beds.  At some point he completely surrendered to this role.  Look at him here, apparently she put him on the bench and covered him with a baby blanket.   For some reason he just looked funny to me.  Maybe because he looked like a little old man lying under a blanket?

But we were able to compose ourselves and take a second to read the card.

So before I announce the winner, I'll give you a hint.  I found the highest heels I owned and had our four year old model them.  This skirt/shoe combo looks so Betsey Johnson, doesn't it?
