HAPPY EARTH DAY
As many of us know, it's also Danny Seo's birthday. So in honor of his special day, and the fact that he is Mr. Earth-friendly Design Wonder-Boy, I would like to share a little about his office. It's my favorite space in his abode. Incidentally, his workspace is his very first thing he blogged about. How fitting for today.
WHAT HE WRITES IN HIS BLOG...
"When I purchased this home, the one thing that probably 'sealed the
deal' for me was a small workshop on the property, all ready to go with
electricity and freshly painted wood walls on the inside."
The beginning...
The end product...
Okay, forget the fact that the guy basically bought nothing expensive. Just look at how he made this space look simple, stylish and just plain beautiful. This proves you don't need to spend a fortune to make a space look glorious.
HOW DID HE MAKE THIS DESK?
Danny bought two fiberglass planters and used them as a base for a piece of scrap wood he covered in burlap. [yes, he made those amazing plates himself!]
WHAT ABOUT THE SHELVES?
In his words, "For added storage, I hung (4) inexpensive Ikea stainless steel shelves; they were a cinch to install! Here, jars full of beads, paint brushes, porcelain glazes, wire, scissors, paper cutters, and anything else I've stocked up on rest and wait to be used. It also adds height to the area and makes the whole spaces seem super efficient and tidy."
WHAT IS IT ABOUT THIS SPACE THAT MAKES IT SO WONDERFUL?
Texture + Symmetry + Focal Points. That's all I'm sayin'.
Funny, I've had this magazine clipping of his office for years, and never figured out who designed it until friend Erika and I were scheming about plates on the wall above my dining table. She pulled up this picture on my lap top and it was, "Ah ha!"
Alright, I know I said his office was my favorite, but while we're in his house, we have to look at his super stylish and eco-friendly dining room. This guy used recycled sweaters to cover his chairs! Who thinks of this?! It is so simple + beautiful. Can't complain about the fabulous moss-covered spheres in the containers.

Danny Seo, you are one heck of a DESIGN HERO. Thanks for showering us with so much of your earth friendly inspiration.
