Why does this series of pictures make me laugh?
Is it Pippi's crooked smile?
Pom Pom's sudden bravery due to the glass partition?
The fact that I've never seen them stare at each other without hissing or barking until this very moment?
They're both acting so serious.
And it's funny.
I really enjoyed the laugh.
I love pets.

she chews. she makes messes. she claims the children's chairs.
she snuggles. she loves.
she always tries her best.
she stole our hearts.
"here we are at my morning walk. i wonder if mommy loves the feeling of wet grass on her feet too. why does she act so tired? doesn't she know that sunrise is the best time to start your day?"
"love our ride to school. i'm in charge of guarding the backseat crew and their lunches."
"we visit the dock before preschool. today was hot and muggy. i tried to dive in the water to showcase my swimming skills, but for some reason daddy grabbed me just before i jumped."
then it's back home.
"wait, i'm supposed to play with these toys all by myself? no fun. i miss my children!"
"i guess i can just manage with this guy until they all come home."
Together.
It's moments like this I wish I could freeze time. Or bottle it and save it for later.
Someday my little boy will be big. Hard to believe.
Pippi fits right in.
It's tough getting four little ones and a pup ready to run out the door by 7:40am. It's not always pretty, but we do it. Lunches packed, hair combed, hearts happy. Couldn't survive our morning routine without my saint-of-a-husband.
My secondary job is whipping up our lattes just as we frantically run out the door.
Something about sipping a hot cup of coffee in this scene is completely relaxing. Makes me forget about all of the morning chaos. I couldn't think of a better way to start our day.

Many of you have asked about Pippi's breed. She's an English Golden
Doodle. That means one parent is an English Golden Retriever and another is a Standard Poodle. In Pippi's case, both parents are English Golden Doodles. So she's double Doodle! [technically the term is called an F2 Standard]. I'm grateful there's a breed out there that works so well with
my
husband's allergies. She'll never shed. What's funny is that we didn't even know the breed existed until a few
months ago. A huge thanks to our dear friends Michelle and Bill who told us about Doodles. And also thanks to blog
friend Meg of Whatever for all of her help. Have you seen her amazing Golden Doodle? His name is Waffle and he's beyond adorable. You really must meet him [right here].
Long
story short, I was determined to go the rescue route. I scoured petfinder. No Golden Doodles. After researching all over the internet, I finally found this small
Golden Doodle rescue group. But we were told that they would deny us
adoption
since it was going to be our first family dog.
That's quite alright, because Pippi is perfect. Now that she's with us, I can't imagine our life without her.
It was meant to be.
Yes, we have a new little one. She's sweet, precious, affectionate and has completely stolen our hearts. We couldn't be more excited! This has been a l-o-n-g time coming for our family. For the record, we're totally "dog" people, but a cat was about all I could handle in the last few years while raising four small children. Thank goodness we ended up with a cat as cool as Pom Pom.
But the offspring are getting bigger. And more independent. Sort of.
So we decided to go for it.
I don't have a lot of time to write about the details now, but I'll leave you with this. Pom Pom is surviving.
This picture says a lot.
As thrilled as we are, Pom Pom is equally jealous, annoyed and insulted. His feelings are hurt. We're trying to give him lots of attention, but he is a little more reclusive than usual. Understandable. I guess in his mind he's being a upstaged by an anomalous puffball.
