This house makes me dream a little.  Inside I imagine a cozy cottage-style kitchen, two simple fireplaces [I bet one is in the dining room], a sunroom perfectly positioned amid all of those old hardwoods, and a master bedroom that welcomes in the morning sun.  The floors would softly creak and every morning the kitchen would fill with the smell of warm muffins and fresh-brewed coffee.

This picture mostly reminds me that someday I'd love to have a flat yard.  In it I would plant an herb garden, hydrangeas, and enjoy running around barefoot feeling the soft grass while watching the offspring play.  We'd also have bunnies, maybe a chicken or two and a really cool baby pig.  Can't forget the dog either.

Jennifer and I went on a recent jaunt to Atlanta.  When I say jaunt, I mean we drove there and back in 36 hours.  While there, I took her down my favorite street in Atlanta and we drooled over the houses.  It's a short street and a very small quaint neighborhood, yet located in the middle of everything.  This house was one of my faves [click on the pic to get a better and bigger view]. 

If you're an Atlanta native, I bet you recognize where this is.

Who knows, maybe someday our family will have a home in the city of Atlanta [we currently have one for sale in the burbs outside of Atlanta].  If so, something like this would be my dream.

Sometimes when you're walking along the path of life you find a sweet surprise.  Husband and I found just that the other day.  Remember my post on sweet white cottages?  Low and behold we stumbled upon one for sale here at the beach.  Built in 1928.  Tons of charm.  Right on the bay.

I'm no expert on historic homes, but this one had me at the white picket fence...

Don't be fooled by this small window.  It has a big view of the bay.

Yes, the inside needs a ton of work.  But the potential is there, I can see the final vision in my mind [the benefit of being a professional daydreamer].  Besides, what's cooler than a historic cottage at the beach?  Nearly everything here is new, so something like that would be such a breath of fresh air. 

I had already started planning our family's life in this cottage: from sunset dinners in the cozy kitchen right down to the outside place we would plant our own herb garden.  There was only one snag with my plans: it's a two bedroom cottage.  And there's six of us. 

Oh well, a girl can still dream.

laundry love

 

I currently have about 27 piles of laundry waiting for me.  My sweet husband has already gotten started on it.  Did I ever tell you that he does most of the laundry in our house?  Saint. 

While I help fold and clean, I think I'll fantasize about this little laundry room.  Love everything about it.

But I really love the husband, there's nothing hotter than seeing a stud separate the whites. 

Meow.

BON ANNIVERSAIRE POUR MOI

Well, I'm a little older wiser today.  I'm a grown up who becomes a kid on my birthday. By this I mean that I believe everyone is entitled to getting a little spoiled on their day of birth.  Not exactly material things, but special treatment [yes, husband I mean bring out the babysitter working a 12 hour shift].  Hey, it's a celebration of another year of your life!  I mean is it a bad thing to be pampered on your birthday?  I have no qualms with that.

OOPS, forgot that we only have a sitter for four hours tonight.   Maybe next year. 

But seriously, husband is taking me to the grand opening of Commander's Palace restaurant for dinner.  It should be a fun change of pace from our usual beach night dinners.  Here's their rendering for the new place...Bon Appetit!
