My little helper assisted me in hanging garland and our stockings in a new spot this year. Since a certain husband decided during last year's renovation that a flat screen would be stunning mounted over my new fireplace.
So I made lemonade out of lemons. And relocated the stockings.
Yes, I'm aware that the garland is flimsy and cheap, but it's live, which was the effect I was after. Confession #476: I'm a floral design-impaired person. Throw in being surrounded by state forests and living at the beach with limited garland resources around [that I'm aware of], and you have recipe for a garland-hanging disaster. But hey, the offspring are happy with it so I'm good.
I wish we had Heeney down here. Great store. I should order from them next year, if I remember to plan ahead. If you're in Atlanta, hook up with a friend who has an account with them. It's a great place to visit in September and snag lovely ribbon and ornaments for the holiday season. And their decorated trees will leave you so inspired.
I'm sharing this display with you because I found these letter twigs that I love. When looking at my plain white velvet stockings, I thought that the letters would offer nice contrast, add texture and mark who's stocking is who's. I may try having them monogrammed next year.
You can't see it, but the stockings have white sparkle snowflake patterns on them. I fell in love with them [for $5 each on clearance how could you not?].
Sorry this picture is a little blurry. I made the mistake of shooting on manual focus.
You can get the twig letters at this place, but they must be purchased in the store since they don't sell the individual letters online. See if you have a store near you. They're not expensive [$12 each] but would look great on a wall, tied with twine on a wrapped gift or almost anywhere.
