I don't consider myself to be especially "crafty." Truth be known, I sort of cringe when I associate that word with myself. It must be some insecurity where guess because I picture permed hair, bad Christmas sweaters and a minivan or something. [No offense meant to any minivan drivers, I just can't pull that one off] But I LOVE seeing well done and simple kid's crafts and at-home projects.
WHY ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT THIS?
Because mom of three and photographer, Shelli of Marietta, requested that I share some Christmas craft ideas for tots. Feeling instant empathy for all moms like me who may be facing 15-20 days of kids at home from school or preschool, I took this request seriously.
After researching and scouring the internet, I realized something: There are a LOT of ugly Christmas crafts out there. No thanks, I'm gonna have to pass on that plastic cup slathered with melted marshmallows, brown spray paint, glitter and gold pipe cleaners popping out the sides looking like some semblance of a reindeer or severely underweight dog wearing head gear. I'll take these cool reindeer instead.
All that being said, I did my best. And here's what I found.
FOR THE ORGANIZED CRAFTER MOM:
christmas tree ornaments:
FOR THE PAPER-ADDICTED MOM:
FOR THE UNSTRUCTURED "IT'S ALL GOOD" MOM:
marshmallow snowman. give your child the supplies and glue and let 'em run wild with their imagination.
FOR THE, "I LIKE TO PLAY WITH PLAYDOH WITH MY KID" MOM:
gingerbread play dough. never did this one myself, but it certainly sounds interesting.
FOR THE "I'VE GOT MORE PATIENCE AND TIME THAN ANY OTHER SOUL" MOM:
AND FOR THE "FORGET THE KID, I WANT MY OWN CRAFT" MOM:
rock it out with martha on this one
or have a glass of wine and just make your own paper ornament.
