sheer delight...

You may have already seen this Florida home in this month's House Beautiful, but I still had to share.

Imagine the tranquility of sleeping in this bed.

Love this room.

 

Elegant.  Simple.  Easy.

What is it about sheers that lower the blood pressure and remind us to relax?  Maybe it's the graceful picture they draw of the wind.

Of course this home is conducive to endless cups of hot tea. And the bench is great.  But I have a hankering for that white teapot.

Today I was able to squeeze in a teensy wheensy bit of relaxation on our rainy day.  I sipped a cup of this new herbal tea I discovered in our travels.  I've tried many of their delicious flavors but my fav so far is the Vanilla Rooibos blend.  You can get it here.

After cruising around their site, I was entertained to find one they call the "Jetlag Therapy Kit".  It's supposed to help energize you in the morning and lull you to sleep at night.  I could actually use that for life in general.

QUESTION:  WHAT IS ONE OF YOUR SHEER SIMPLE PLEASURES?

Went my heart when I saw these images. 

White and vintage?  Two of my favs.  The vase and unexpected feathers make it.

Wouldn't you love to plop down with a good book and read in that bed?  Or start off your day with a tray of fresh fruit and Eggs Benedict on a sleepy morning?  Don't forget the latte.

 

Loveliness.

The faucet is enticing.  Erika, where can one find an outdoor faucet like this?  Any tips for an amateur?  Must have one for my outdoor shower we plan to build.

sea serenity...

It's always fun to see the neighboring homes here get published.  But I've admired local Interior Designer, Georgia Carlee, and this home in my neighborhood for quite a while now.  So when I saw these pictures on Traditional Home's website, I had to share the tour with you. 

Take a look.  [and prepare to drool just a little]

This serene room of texture sets the tone for the home's soft palette.  Carlee's Cocker Spaniel, Hannah, seems to have found the perfect spot for an afternoon snooze.  Maybe she has an appreciation for chairs covered in the perfect linen.

Thoughts from Carlee:

"I like details, but I don’t like fussiness. I also like to establish balance in a room.  Everything in the living room was rectangular, so I chose a sofa with a curved back and a round table to add softness and counter the straight lines.”

Carlee brought unity to both living and dining rooms by keeping the window treatments the same.  That chandelier by Bobo takes the cake.

 

This is the way many of the porches look in our neighborhood - generous ceiling heights and ample views of nature.  The privacy drapes here really soften the angles and tall ceiling.

 

A lovely kitchen...

 

Chocolate and pink are a fun surprise in this room engulfed in natural light and soft hues. Daisies resting in distressed wall frames add a bit of charm.

beach worthy...

This may be a carriage house in Des Moines, but I could totally picture it as a beach cottage here. When I found these shots, I couldn't help but enjoy all of its personality and had to share it with you. I was intrigued that the Country Home design team took such a small space and brought in fun colors and spunk all while still keeping it relatively simple.

I absolutely  love these nail head ottomans in between the two love seats.  Look at all of the texture in this room, especially behind the love seat closest to the wall.  That blue antique tin is a perfect pop which nicely adds a nice surprise color.

More texture in this little spot.  The walls, the chairs, the flowers.  The table runners are actually antique dish linens found on an online auction site.  I love this no sew approach.

HERE COMES ONE OF MY FAVORITE PARTS OF THE HOUSE...

This desk is so simple and look how they took old shutters and created a message board that shuts.  Brilliant!  I need this.

Up close

Moving on to the bedroom, the color is so fresh.  The overall room is a little too country for my taste, but my favorite parts are the walls and bedding.  I would have added modern bedside table to mix it up a bit. But, hello, this is from Country Home.

These fabulous linens are by a company called Plover Organic.  A must see.
 

The bathroom is tempting.  I love the barn door feature with the 3/4 french doors with privacy glass. Great space saver.  I tried to figure out the fabric on that shower curtain, but no luck yet. 

I've always dreamed of a ball and claw tub, but fear I'll never have one since husband likes monster jacuzzi tubs.  Call me old fashioned, but I'm all about a quiet bath with a generous glass of wine.
